Accra, Ghana, 16th of August 2012 – One of Ghana’s most well-known fashion designers, Aisha Oboubi, is set to take Ghana Fashion and Design Week by storm with her African-inspired contemporary womenswear collection. After only a few years in the industry, the label is creating a strong presence for itself, from edgy silhouettes to one of a kind statement jewellery, Christie Brown has been setting the trend making the brand in demand for the modern sophisticated lady. The label reflects the personality of the founder’s uber fab & chic, personality bringing a contemporary twist to the use of Africa Fabrics and design.
Christie Brown clothing is made from carefully selected African print, from all over the continent combined with silks, chiffon, denim or jersey. “Our aim is to infuse a modern and distinct twist into the use of traditional African print, making it acceptable the world over; to allow women the world over to experience the culturally rich and opulent side of Africa without having to compromise their personal style, way of life or culture.” says designers Aisha Obuobi.
Ghana Fashion & Design Week® is a contemporary international platform envisioned to direct, lead and promotes both emerging and established designers to a global audience.
GFDW ETHIKHA platform, first to be launched in Ghana will showcase ethical fashion designers collections, highlighting both the aesthetics and social value elements of ethical fashion and products. Educative Seminars delivered by industry experts will run alongside the contemporary Exhibition hub, showcasing both local and international designer exhibitors.
